I support decontrol of vacant apartments in owner occupied buildings with one to four units. Such a measure would allow property owners to bring the rents they charge up to market value. There are already state laws that protect tenants from unscrupulous gouging. Local laws that do the same are merely redundant.

Equally I support eliminating requiring building owners to appear for rent leveling calculations before, there is a preliminary finding that the landlord has overcharged. These hearings waste the time of everyone concerned, especially the time of city employees.
